Program for the 15th ECER congress

The congress will run over 4 days in August 2012 starting Wednesday 22nd and ending Saturday 25th.

The program for each day is planned as such:

Tuesday, August 21st 2012 – Arrival Day

Wednesday, August 22nd 2012 – Presentation Day

This day will provide an opportunity for all the participating organizations and members to present themselves to the congress. The presentations are an opportunity to present the daily life and works of multitude of pagan communities across Europe.

We will provide a projector and a connected Windows computer equipped with Microsoft PowerPoint and OpenOffice Impress, so you can bring your presentation in formats supported by either of these programs. You can bring them on a usb dongle, or send them by email in advance, in which case we’ll put them on the computer in advance.

If you bring old fashioned transparencies, please contact us in advance, and we’ll try and see if we can also provide an overhead projector for these.

In the evening a supper arrangement is held for all participants. This will be an opportunity to get together and socialize.

Thursday, August 23rd 2012 – Excursion Day

The day will consist of a bus tour to various pre-historic sites around Denmark. The excusion is planned to run from 9 in the morning till 21 (9 pm) in the evening.

The tour will take you to several of the heritage sites of the western Denmark, including Jelling, the burial place of the last heathen king of Denmark. Jelling has been a Unesco world heritage site since 1994.

Before returning to Odense, the tour will end at a site near the source of Denmarks longest stream, Gudenåen (Stream of the Gods), where a ritual (blót) will be held. We hope that all bus tour participants will join us in celebrating good fortune for ECER and pagan communities across Europe.

Anyone not participating in the tour can explore Odense on their own.

Friday, August 24th 2012 – Congress Day

The ECER congress proceedings will take place on this day, where a general assembly is held. This assembly is planned to consume most of the day.

As per the constitution of ECER, only organizations that have paid their due membership fee for 2012 are entitled to vote, if such is needed. However, all participants are entitled to be heard and thus able to speak at the assembly.

A meeting of the ECER board elected in 2010 is also scheduled.

Proposals to be put forth in the general assembly or in the board meeting must be submitted to the organizers no later than August 1st. The proposals will be posted on this website as soon as possible after August 1st.

In the evening a supper arrangement is held for all participants. This will be an opportunity to get together and socialize.

Saturday, August 25th 2012 – Lectures Day

The last day of the congress will consist of lectures, and the lectures are open for everyone. We also hope to be able to present some entertainment.

The day is planned to take place in an auditorium on our local university, SDU – Southern Denmark University, located in the south-east of Odense.

Nothing is planned for the evening, so you’re free to explore Odense on your own.
