The Report of Societas Hesperiana pro Culto Deorum, for 16th ECER Congress, Rome 2018
The Triple Exile:
As we all know, after the doomed and execrable Second Edict of Theodosius, in the year 392 c.e., private (communitarian and domestic) rituals were banned in the entire territory of the Western Roman Empire. Terrible persecutions punished all who continued to honor the Gods and the Ancestors in all the territories of nowadays Italy. Anyway, we know from historical sources and because of the persistence of many ritual acts in rural Italy that many fellow gentiles continued to perform rituals during the long centuries of oppression. Bologna 2010 speech of Vlassis Rassias (Supreme Council of Ethnikoi Hellenes – YSEE)
Dear friends, brothers and sisters, fellow pagans.
I’ m Vlassis Rassias and I represent the Supreme Council of Ethnikoi Hellenes (YSEE), the main board of representation for the followers of the ethnic polytheistic Hellenic Religion. Our aim is to defend from verbal and physical abuse all the holy items, symbols and ideas of our Tradition and, of course, to fully restore the Hellenic Religion, against the fact that the Greek state has so far omitted in its legislation the granting of legal personality to religious communities apart the three byzantine religions -Orthodox Christianity, Turkish Sunni Islam and Judaism- which constitute Public Law Legal Entities.
